MINDFULNESS & MINDFUL THERAPY
I introduce accessible Mindfulness skills and philosophies which may include compassion-focused therapy techniques, breathwork, guided imagery, meditation, mindful art making and core mindfulness skills based on a DBT model.
Through our work, you will be introduced to these mindfulness practices which will help you approach challenging situations with assertiveness, kindness, dignity, and self-compassion. Mindfulness-Based interventions have proven to be effective for treating depression, anxiety, chronic pain, substance abuse, insomnia, PTSD, ADHD and obsessive-compulsive disorder (POLLAK, SIEGEL, PEDULLA, 2014).
WHAT TO EXPECT
I often start sessions by offering to guide you through brief mindfulness meditation (always optional). I will then incorporate mindfulness principals and philosophies to address suffering and cognitive distortions based on "Wise Mind", "Core Mindfulness" and "loving kindness" skills. I will also teach you breathing exercises to reduce stress and may use guided imagery to increase overall wellness.
