Art Therapy is a proven and creative form of psychotherapy that differs from traditional talk therapy practices. The creative process of art making in therapy can help you recognize profound aspects of yourself that you may not have otherwise recognized. Integrating art in therapy allows you to deepen connection and understanding as art is it's own language.
Art Therapy helps people of all ages resolve conflicts, reduce stress, foster alternate perspectives and enhance well-being and connection (Malchiodi, 2003). Since Art Therapists are trained in the arts and, in therapy, we are capable of guiding you through the process of creative expression in a safe and supportive space.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I will provide all art materials and art making is always an option (but not mandatory) to assist in processing conflicts, emotions, life events or to deepen personal understanding and meaning. Please note that you do not need to consider yourself "artistic" to benefit from the life-affirming experience of participating in Art Therapy.
